Softball Wins 2 of 3 at Irish Dome

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team traveled to the Rosemount Irish Dome to play a tripleheader and came away with two wins in their three games.

In game one, Anoka-Ramsey defeated Southern Division foe Riverland in a non-division match-up 14-0 in 5-innings.

The Golden Rams pounded out 14 hits in the 5-inning affair. The offense was led by Sydney Manske who went 3-3 at the plate along with 2 SB's. Also having big days at the plate were Cleopatra Nystrom with 2 hits, 2 RBI's and a double, Lindsey Swanson with 2 hits and 2 RBI's, Breanna Stang with 2 hits to go along with 3 RBI's and Emily Robinette who had 2 hits.

The highlight offensively of the game was Karina Pritchard's first ever collegiate homerun, inside the park, but still a homerun! Picking up her 1st collegiate win in the circle was Bailey Zenk. Bailey struck-out six while only giving up one hit.

Game two saw a much closer affair with the Golden Rams scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to squeeze out a 12-11 victory over Rainy River.

Anoka-Ramsey held the lead until the 7th inning when they gave up one run. In the bottom of the inning with one out, Lindsey Swanson hit a base hit up the middle and then Breanna Stang followed with a another base hit up the middle that was then misplayed by the centerfielder allowing both runners to score.

The Golden Rams had a tough game in the field allowing 10 unearned runs, but the offense came through again with 15 hits this time. Having a big game at the plate were Breanna Stang who had 3 hits and 4 RBI's, Cleopatra Nystrom 3 hits and 2 RBI's, Emily Robinette contributing 2 hits to go along with 2 RBI's and Karina Pritchard who had 2 hits, 2 RBI's and 2 triples.

On the mound, Lindsey Swanson picked up her 3rd win of the season scattering 10 hits and only giving up one earned run.

The final game of the day saw Anoka-Ramsey take on NJCAA DII opponent Lake Region. Lake Region was too much to handle and the Golden Rams lost 11-2 in 5-innings. The team saw an outstanding pitcher and could only muster three hits.

Next up for the Golden Rams is another tripleheader this Friday, March 23rd, back in the Irish Dome. Games start at 7:15 AM with the team playing Hibbing, DCTC, and Central Lakes.
