Golden Rams Drop Pair on Final Day

On the final day of their spring trip to sunny, but cold Florida, the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team dropped both games that they played.

The first game the team lost to DII opponent Chesapeake by a score of 5-8. Anoka-Ramsey fell behind 5-0 after one half inning and 7-0 after three and a half innings. The team rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull within two runs but couldn't get any more runs across despite tallying a total of 12 team hits. Other than the first half inning, the Golden Rams played very well and fought all the way to the end.

"I am so proud of the way we battled all 7 innings," said Head Coach Dave Alto. "We easily could have thrown in the towel, but the ladies kept having quality at bats and kept making all of the plays in the field. Every player in the line-up had at least one hit which made this effort even more memorable."

The second game saw the team play highly respected DII opponent County College of Morris and were defeated 0-8 in five innings.

Anoka-Ramsey saw the best pitching they had seen all week and could only muster one hit despite hitting the ball hard. Defensively the Golden Rams played well only committing one error, but the hitting for the County College of Morris was too much to match.

The Golden Rams finished their spring trip to Florida with a 3-5 record. They return home for a tripleheader on Tuesday, March 20 at the Rosemount Irish Dome where they will play Riverland, Rainy River and Lake Region State College.
