Softball Starts Season with Florida Trip

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team traveled to Florida for their opening games of the 2018 season.

On Day 1 of their trip the Golden Rams dropped their opening games to Parkland (IL) 14-6, Itasca 14-6, and Central Lakes 11-3.

Against NJCAA D2 Parkland the Golden Rams began the game strong taking a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the fourth before Parkland erupted for nine runs on nine hits over the next two innings.

Leading the way offensively and having multi-hit games for Anoka-Ramsey were Cleopatra Nystrom and Sydney Manske.

In game 2 vs Itasca Anoka-Ramsey hit the ball well but struggled in the field.  The Golden Rams committed seven errors which led to 12 unearned runs for the Vikings.  Getting two hits apiece for the team were Mickey Guenther, Ashley Stepaniak, and Lindsey Swanson.  Stepaniak contributed four RBIs with a double.

In their final game of the day, the Golden Rams gave everything they had but playing three games in one day began to show in losing to Central Lakes.  The lone bright spot at the plate was Karina Pritchard who went 2-2.
