Golden Rams Earn Hard Fought Split with St. Cloud Tech

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Softball team hosted St. Cloud Technical and Community College in a matchup of two of the top MCAC teams on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a split.

The Cyclones entered the game ranked #3 in the first NJCAA national poll while the Golden Rams debuted at #7 in the rankings.

In game one, pitcher Quincy Gross threw a complete game giving up just one run on five hits as the Golden Rams won 4-1.  Gross also struck out 13 batters on the afternoon.

Asthon Pracher scored two runs while six different Golden Rams had one hit apiece.

Anoka-Ramsey got on the board first scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with JoJo Liebelt knocking in two baserunners in the inning.

The Golden Rams added a run in the bottom of the fifth before St. Cloud Tech started to threaten in the top of the seventh with two outs.

The Cyclones put two runners on with two outs but managed to get just one across the plate as Anoka-Ramsey pulled out the win.

In game two the bats came alive for the Cyclones as they put together 14 hits in winning 12-2.

The Golden Rams took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third but St. Cloud responded with four runs in the top of the fourth, then added seven runs in the top of the sixth.

Shannon Olson went 2 for 3 and drove in the only two Golden Ram runs with a home run in the third inning.

The Golden Rams had their 13 game winning streak snapped and are 15-11 on the season.
