Homeruns Power Softball to Win

On their second day of games in Titusville, FL, Anoka-Ramsey called upon it's "home run" power to beat MCAC opponent Rainy River 10-2.

Getting the home run parade started was Shannon Olson (Andover, SO) in the 1st inning with a two-run bomb to left field.

The score was 4-2 until the top of the 7th when Lindsey Swanson (Irondale, Fr) led off the inning with her 1st ever home run. A few batters later, sophomore catcher Steph Keeler (Fridley) followed with a 3-run home run of her own.

Along with all of the bombs being hit, Rebecca Liebelt (Columbia Heights,SO)  had 4 hits and also getting two hits a piece were Lizzy Haugstad (Armstrong, Fr) and Quincy Gross (Columbia Heights, SO). Quincy also picked up her 1st win at Anoka-Ramsey after transferring from Rochester Community and Technical College.

The second half of the twin bill saw the Golden Rams fall to Spoon River 10-2. The first couple of innings started off slowly, but then the bats got going for Anoka-Ramsey as they scored 2 runs, put together 4 hits and had a number of hard hits with line drive shots that were caught.

The team also played strong defense by turning the first two double plays of the season.

Thursday is the day off for the team before they get back on the diamond to face D-1 and D-2 powers Parkland, Spoon River and Lincoln Trail.
