Men's Soccer Wins Region Title; Monaighan Named Player of the Year

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Soccer team won the NJCAA Region XIII Championship on Sunday afternoon in a 1-0 extra time thriller with Lake Superior College.

In a physical game, both teams had numerous opportunites to get on the board but we're unable to convert.

The teams battled back and forth controlling the ball at various stretches but the defense and goalkeeping prevailed for the entirety of regulation.

Gabriel Monaighan finally broke free, setup by a spectacular ball from Dicke Boucka, to win the match five minutes into the first extra time period.

At the conclusion of the match, Monaighan was named the NJCAA Region XIII Player of the Year.  In 15 matches, Monaighan scored ten goals to go along with three assists.

Head Coach Brady Eichhorn-Hicks was named the NJCAA Region XIII Coach of the Year.

The Golden Rams will host the District C tournament October 26-27 with games times yet to be determined. All tournament games will be held on the campus of Augsburg University in Minneapolis.
