Men's Soccer Defeats Riverland, Claims MCAC Regular Season Title

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Soccer team came back from a one goal deficit twice to defeat Riverland 4-2 on Monday afternoon and win the 2018 MCAC regular season championship.

Riverland struck first to take 1-0 lead before Gabriel Monaighan provided the equalizer in the 45th minute to tie the score 1-1 at halftime.

Riverland countered in the second half to go ahead 2-1 before the Golden Rams took control.

Monaighan scored again in the 60th minute off a Dicke Boucka assist to tie the score 2-2, followed quickly by Ulises Juarez finding the back of the net for a 3-2 lead.

Gerson Maldonando-Garcia provided the cushion with a goal in the 71st minute for a 4-2 lead and Anoka-Ramsey hung on from there.

The Golden Rams finish the regular season with a 8-7 record and earned the #1 seed in the Region XIII playoffs.

Anoka-Ramsey will host a Region XIII semifinal game on October 17.
