Men's Soccer Opens Season 1-1

Men's Soccer Opens Season 1-1

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Soccer team started off the season right with a thrilling 2-1 win in extra time last Friday vs. Allen (KS) Community College.

Allen got on the board first to take a 1-0 lead in the first half before a Gabriel Monaighan equalizer tied it up a 1-1 in the 37th minute.

The teams played a physical second half evenly and took the game to extra time.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first ten minutes of extra time, and after a change in field direction Monaighan broke free with just four minutes remaining to knock in the winning goal.

Goalkeeper Tobi Akinroluyou had three saves.

On Sunday, the Golden Rams hosted the formidable Marshalltown (IA) Tigers.

The Tigers entered the season as the 19th ranked Division I junior college and lived up to their billing scoring twice in the first two minutes and taking a 4-0 lead into the break.

The Golden Rams fought valiantly throughout the second half and played the rest of the match evenly, falling 4-0.

Anoka-Ramsey is 1-1 on the season and will host Lake Superior College on August 27th at 3:00pm.
