The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Soccer team defeated the #2 and #1 seeded teams in Region XIII on their way to claiming the 2017 Championship.
On October 18 the Golden Rams faced #2 seed Century College in the semifinals and came away with a 1-1 tie thru overtime before winning 4-1 on penalty kicks to advance to the championship game.
Makel Mackbee scored the lone goal while goalkeeper Alex Alvarez had five saves.
Anoka-Ramsey then traveled to #1 seed Lake Superior College on October 21 to face the IceHawks for the championship.
Louie Elliott struck in the fourth minute to give Anoka-Ramsey a 1-0 lead before Lake Superior tied the score.
Joey Roslan than put Anoka-Ramsey up 2-1 at halftime with a goal in the 44th minute.
The game stayed tight throughout the second half until Sam Bylart scored in the 87th minute, followed quickly by Esteban Badillo-Ramirez in the 89th minute to seal the win.
Anoka-Ramsey will face Triton College on Wednesday, October 25 at 12pm in the District semifinals. The game will be held at Concordia University-St. Paul.
