Cold Second Half Dooms Men's Basketball

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team fell 92-75 to Ridgewater on Wednesday night, after a cold second half shooting.

The Golden Rams played the Warriors to a 47-47 tie at halftime thanks to 8 of 14 shooting from the three-point line, but the second half was a different story as Anoka-Ramsey made just 4 of 12 threes and 9 of 31 shots overall (29 percent).

Anoka-Ramsey trailed 21-13 but used an 8-0 run to pull even.  Beau Nelson scored five points in the run, with three more added by Dylan Hay.

A Nelson three gave Anoka-Ramsey a 35-33 lead, and the Golden Rams went up 47-43 on a Roland Washington layup with 2:10 to go in the first half.

But the cold streak started as the Warriors scored the last four points of the first half, and the first eight points of the second half to take a 55-47 lead.

Ridgewater extended the lead to 82-61 with seven minutes to play.  Anoka-Ramsey scored the next seven points to cut the deficit to 14 but could not get any closer the rest of the way.

Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 39.4 percent, but managed 46.2 percent from the three-point line.

Ridgewater outrebounded the Golden Rams 50-40.

Nelson finished with 16 points.  Josiah Remus-Ford added 14 points.

Anoka-Ramsey falls to 10-13 overall, 3-7 in the MCAC.  The Golden Rams travel to MCAC-leading St. Cloud Tech on Saturday, February 15 for a 3:30pm tip.
