Men's Basketball Rallies, Falls Just Short in Loss to Riverland

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team overcame a 15 point deficit to take a one-point lead with 11 seconds to play, but ended up falling in the closing seconds 92-90 to Riverland on Saturday afternoon.

Nashiem Lozier missed a potential game-tying free throw with 12 seconds to play, but Bradford Scott put back the miss to give Anoka-Ramsey a 90-89 lead.

Following a Riverland timeout, the Blue Devils drove the lane and scored a layup while getting fouled.  After the made free throw the Golden Rams had one last chance with three seconds remaining, but their inbound pass was tipped and they couldn't get off a good shot for the win.

The Golden Rams shot 61.4 percent overall and made 11 of 23 threes in battling the second place Blue Devils.

Anoka-Ramsey trailed by 15 in the first half before cutting the deficit to seven at halftime.

Riverland still led by ten late in the game before the Golden Rams made a run in nearly pulling off the win.

Lozier scored 33 points to go with 12 rebounds, making 13 of 16 shots including 4 of 6 threes.

D.J. Pettigrew scored 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting and 4 of 6 from behind the arc.

Anoka-Ramsey falls to 9-11 overall, 2-5 in the MCAC Southern Division.

The Golden Rams begin the second half of league play on Wednesday evening when they host M|State at 7:30pm.
