Men's Basketball Gets win over Bismarck; Falls to Bay

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team split their weekend matchup, beating Bismarck State 93-69 on Saturday before falling to Bay College 76-59 on Sunday.

The Golden Rams wore out the nets on Saturday, knocking down 52.2 percent of their shots including 10 of 26 from three in beating Bismarck State.

Anoka-Ramsey also forced 22 Mystic turnovers while holding BSC to 40.3 percent shooting.

Anoka-Ramsey scored the first 17 points of the game and never trailed in leading by as many as 31.

Beau Nelson knocked down four threes in the first nine minutes of action and finished 5 of 6 from deep while scoring 23 points.

Nashiem Lozier scored ten points and pulled in 17 rebounds.

Josiah Remus-Ford scored 11 points, while Roland Washington added ten.

Antoin Watson Jr, and Terrance Waits each chipped in nine in a balanced scoring effort.

Sunday told a different story for the Golden Rams as they struggled shooting the ball, hitting just 21 of 78 shots (26.9 percent), and 6 of 44 threes (13.6 percent).

Anoka-Ramsey trailed 39-32 at halftime despite hitting just 30.8 percent from the field compared to 55.2 percent for Bay College.

Bay College built a 52-40 lead before a Lozier layup kick-started a 16-3 run highlighted by eight points from Dylan Hay to take a 56-55 lead with seven minutes to play.

From there the Golden Rams went cold again, not making a field goal for the rest of the game, as Bay went on a 20-3 run over six minutes to pull away.

Lozier scored 20 points and pulled in 14 rebounds, 11 on the offensive end.

D.J. Pettigrew added 12 points, and Hay finished with 11.

The Golden Rams finish the 2019 portion of the schedule at 7-4 overall.
