Golden Rams Knock Off DCTC 82-70

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team hosted Dakota County Tech on Tuesday evening and came away with a 82-70 victory.

The Blue Knights had entered the game ranked #18 in the NJCAA DII poll.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 50 percent overall (28 of 56) and connected on 12 of 27 three-point attempts (44.4 percent).  The Golden Rams lead the MCAC, and are 14th in the nation in three-point percentage (37.9 percent).

Five straight points from Roland Washington helped the Golden Rams extend their first half lead to six points with 7:52 left before halftime, and Anoka-Ramsey led 40-32 with 1:53 to play before DCTC pulled within two.

But a Antoin Watson Jr. three with just seconds remaining gave the Golden Rams a 43-38 lead at the break.

Anoka-Ramsey quickly extended the lead to ten, 54-44 following another Washington three, then a three-point play from Nashiem Lozier and a layup by Washington extended the lead up to 15 points with 13:30 to go.

The Blue Knights pulled within nine at the 11 minute mark, but following a Golden Ram timeout, a three-point play from Terrance Waits, and another by Washington helped provide more cushion as the lead stayed in double digits for the remainder of the game.

Lozier scored 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting and added nine rebounds.

Washington scored 16 points maing 6 of 7 from the field and 3 of 4 from three.

D.J. Pettigrew tallied 12 points, while Terrell Fountain chipped in with ten.

The Golden Rams improve to 5-3 overall will host the Minnesota Prep Academy on Friday, December 13 at 6:00pm.
