The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team split their weekend matchup with Northern Division opponents, beating Hibbing 107-101 on Friday before falling to Rainy River 96-90 on Saturday.

Despite a season-low 18.8 percent shooting from three, the Golden Rams managed to make 59.5 percent overall in the win over Hibbing.

Hibbing led for much of the first half, taking a 20-14 lead with 11:47 to play, but two free throws from Terrell Fountain started a 10-2 run to give the Golden Rams a two point lead.

Hibbing retook the lead and led 39-38 when four straight points from Roland Washington put Anoka-Ramsey back on top.

The Cardinals would tie the score at 44-apiece before four straight from Nashiem Lozier, two free throws from Terrance Waits, and a layup from Dylan Hay got Anoka-Ramsey back in front, settling on a 50-48 halftime lead.

The teams continued to battle back and forth with neither team leading by more than five points until a Hay jumper put the Golden Rams up 85-78 with 8:23 to play.

Two Lozier free throws gave Anoka-Ramsey their largest lead at 95-86 with 5:09 to play.

But Hibbing wouldn't go away quietly, trimming the Golden Ram lead to just one with 3:44 left.

Antoin Watson Jr., and Fountain each scored to push the lead back to five, and a dunk from Lozier helped keep the Cardinals at bay late as Anoka-Ramsey held on for the win.

Lozier continued his stellar play with 26 points and 14 rebounds, making 11 of 16 from the field.

Josiah Remus-Ford and Fountain each scored 14 points, with D.J. Pettigrew and Watson chipping in 12 apiece.

Saturday's contest was another tight affair with 12 lead changes and eight ties.

Rainy River managed to build a 16 point lead early in the second half before Anoka-Ramsey mounted a comeback.

Trailing 49-33, Anoka-Ramsey gradually cut into the deficit, eventually pulling ahead 62-61 after two Fountain free throws.

The two teams swapped the lead back and forth, before settling on a 70-70 tie.

After a Rainy River timeout, the Voyageurs knocked down back to back threes to go up 76-70 with six minutes left, then extended the lead to ten with three minutes to go.

A three from Waits, and a layup from Fountain pulled Anoka-Ramsey within five, and two Rainy River free throws followed by a Lozier three and Fountain layup cut the score to 88-84 with 32 seconds left.

But Rainy River went six for six from the free throw line down the stretch to hold off the Golden Rams.

Anoka-Ramsey made 44.4 percent of their field goals and 13 of 34 threes, but Rainy River countered by making 54.2 percent and 12 of 23 from deep.

Rainy River held a 20-13 edge in made free throws.

Fountain scored 17 points, with Beau Nelson making 4 of 11 threes and 15 points. Waits and Pettigrew each scored 12, while Remus-Ford chipped in ten points.

Anoka-Ramsey is now 4-3 overall, and will host Dakota County Tech on December 10th at 7:00pm.
