The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team pulled their record back even at 2-2 with a 97-83 win over the St. Thomas JV on Monday evening.
The Golden Rams shot 52.3 percent overall and connected on 11 of 21 shots from three. Anoka-Ramsey also committed a season-low eight turnovers.
Trailing 9-8 early in the game, Terrell Fountain sparked a 7-0 run with a three and a layup bookmarked around a three from Beau Nelson for a 15-9 lead.
The Tommies responded with a 14-3 run of their own to retake the lead at 23-18, but a dunk by Nashiem Lozier knotted the score at 28 apiece with 6:49 left in the first half.
With the score tied at 33-all, Kajuane Walton knocked down a three, followed by a Josiah Remus-Ford layup, and two Remus-Ford free throws for a 40-33 lead as Anoka-Ramsey would go into halftime up 43-37.
St. Thomas stayed within striking distance through the early part of the second half before a 7-0 Golden Ram spurt opened up a 63-52 lead.
But the Tommies wouldn't relent, cutting the deficit back down to four with 7:36 to play.
Anoka-Ramsey used a 8-0 run to regain a comfortable cushion and took their largest lead of the game, 87-72 with just over two minutes to play before holding on for the win.
Lozier scored 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting to go with five assists and four rebounds.
Fountain added 16 points on 6 of 8 from the floor.
Antoin Watson Jr. scored 13 points and pulled in a team-high seven rebounds.
Kajuane Walton added 12 points making all five shot attempts including two threes.
Anoka-Ramsey takes a bit of a break, returning to action on Wednesday, November 27th with a 6:00pm game against the Minnesota Prep Academy.
