Men's Basketball Falls to Central Lakes 91-78

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team went on the road for their only game away from home before January, but couldn't come away with a win, falling to Central Lakes 91-78 on Wednesday evening.

The Raiders shot a blistering 59 percent overall for the game including 8 of 19 from the three-point line.  The Golden Rams shot the ball well offensively at 48.3 percent overall and made 10 of 28 threes, but turned the ball over 17 times and were out-rebounded 36-21.

Anoka-Ramsey led 11-7 early, and again 22-19 following a Terrell Fountain layup.  But the Raiders responded with a 10-0 run to go ahead 29-22, a lead they would never relinquish.

The Golden Rams fought back to pull within 49-43 with 16:49 to play in the game after a Nashiem Lozier three.  But Central Lakes had another answer, this time with a 12-0 run to push the lead to 18 points.

Trailing 75-58 with 7:46 left, Anoka-Ramsey mounted one last surge, going on a 14-5 run with five different players scoring to pull within 80-72 but couldn't get any closer in falling to 1-2 overall on the season.

D.J. Pettigrew scored 18 points on 6 of 8 shooting including 3 of 4 from three.

Lozier scored 15 points to go with ten rebounds.

Beau Nelson chipped in 14 points and six assists, while Fountain contributed 12 points off the bench.

The Golden Rams return home to host the St. Thomas JV on Monday, November 18 at 7:00pm.
