Late Run Lifts Riverland Over Golden Rams

The Riverland Blue Devils ended the game on a 26-9 run to triumph over Anoka-Ramsey 80-63 on Thursday evening.

The Golden Rams, who had trailed for much of the game tied the score at 54-54 on an Alex Kipliany dunk with 9:30 to go, but their offense faltered down the stretch.

Riverland went on a 7-0 run following Kipliany's dunk, then extended the lead to 12 points with three minutes to go as the Golden Rams managed just five points in the six minute stretch.

Anoka-Ramsey entered the game just one game back of the first place Blue Devils, but now fall two games back with just one to play in the regular season.

With the win, and a loss by St. Cloud Tech on Thursday night, Riverland clinched at least a share of the MCAC Southern Division title as they face St. Cloud Tech on Saturday.

Anoka-Ramsey shot just 35.4 percent overall and made only 8 of 30 three-point attempts.

Riverland hit 51.5 percent of their shots in the second half to finish at 45.5 percent.

Justin Castro and Jalen Dunlap each scored 17 points for Anoka-Ramsey.

The Golden Rams are 15-11 overall, 8-5 in the MCAC and will travel to Ridgewater on Saturday for the final regular season game.
