Men's Basketball Secures Postseason Berth with Win

With a 82-74 win over Western Tech, the Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team secured a berth in the NJCAA Region XIII tournament for the ninth consecutive season.

Anoka-Ramsey entered the afternoon one game ahead of Western Tech in the third spot, and two games ahead of Rochester and M|State.  The win put Anoka-Ramsey up two games on Western Tech with two to play, but by sweeping the season series with the Cavaliers the Golden Rams would win any potential tie-break scenario.

M|State dropped their Saturday contest putting Anoka-Ramsey up three games on the Spartans with two to play.  The Golden Rams still hold a two game lead over Rochester.  Anoka-Ramsey also kept pace with Riverland and St. Cloud Tech who each hold a one game lead over the Golden Rams.

Anoka-Ramsey hosts Riverland on Wednesday, February 20 as they look to pull even with the Blue Devils in the MCAC standings.

A slow start to the game vs. Western Tech put Anoka-Ramsey behind 6-2 five minutes into the game, but a 10-0 run gave Anoka-Ramsey a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

A Tenzing Chime three game Anoka-Ramsey a 12 point lead with five minutes left in the first half, and the Golden Rams took a 15 point lead into the break.

Jalen Dunlap connected on one of his five threes with seven minutes to play giving Anoka-Ramsey a 75-51 lead.

The Cavaliers mounted a comeback over the next six minutes cutting the deficit down to seven points with a minute to go, but Anoka-Ramsey sealed the win at the free throw line.

The Golden Rams shot 50 percent overall and made 15 of 31 three point attempts.

Dunlap scored 22 points leading five Golden Rams in double figures.

Justin Castro scored 15 points, followed by 13 from Chime, 11 from Jackson Odegard, and ten from Beau Nelson.

Anoka-Ramsey improves to 15-10 overall, 8-4 in the MCAC.
