Men's Basketball Splits Week's Games

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team split their two games last week beating Western Tech 106-98 on Wednesday before falling 85-79 to Riverland on Saturday.

In Wednesday's win over Western Tech the Golden Rams shot a blistering 54.3 percent overall and 43.3 percent from the three-point line (13-30).  The Golden Rams put up 61 points in the second half.

Justin Castro led all scorers with 27 points on 8 of 16 shooting and 11 of 13 from the free throw line to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Jackson Odegard scored 19 points making 5 of 7 threes.

Steven Colon poured in 17 points, and DeAndre Jones had 16 points.

Beau Nelson scored nine points to go with ten assists and eight rebounds.

 

Against Riverland the Golden Rams fought back from a 16 point second half deficit to pull within three points with under two minutes remaining, but couldn't get any closer.

Rebounding and free throws proved to be the difference as Riverland outrebounded the Golden Rams 50-33 including 17-3 on the offensive glass.  Riverland also made 24 free throws to 11 for Anoka-Ramsey.

Castro scored 20 points on 7 of 17 shooting.  Alex Kipliany scored 11 points and Jalen Dunlap had 12.

Nashiem Lozier recorded a double double with ten points and ten rebounds.

 

The Golden Rams are 10-9 overall, 3-3 in the MCAC Southern Division.
