Men's Basketball Finishes 2018 with 7-4 Record

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team wrapped up the 2018 portion of their schedule with a 7-4 overall record after recording a split in their final two games before break.

The Golden Rams got 19 points from Steven Colon and 18 from Jalen Dunlap in a 97-86 win over Bismarck State on Friday night.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 52.2 percent overall and connected on 11 of 30 three-point field goals.

A layup from Nashiem Lozier opened up a 10-2 lead for Anoka-Ramsey early in the game and a 16-7 run pushed the lead to 31-18 with 11 minutes left in the half.

After a Bismarck State layup, Colon connected on a three followed by a three and a three-point play by Dunlap for a 37-20 lead.

The Golden Rams took their largest lead of the game (26 points) with 4:29 to play in the half on a layup by Murshid Mudricat Zuberi and led 60-40 at halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey led by 22 after another Colon three at the 15:25 mark before Bismarck State slowly mounted a comeback.

An 11-0 Mystics run cut the lead to just 76-67, and Bismarck State was within seven, 84-77 with 5:42 to play.

But a Lozier layup, a three from Colon, and a dunk by Dunlap capped a 7-0 run to push the lead back to 14 points and the Golden Rams held on for the win.

Game 2 saw the Golden Rams put a good fight with Dakota County Tech before falling 81-72.

Dunlap led Anoka-Ramsey with 21 points on 6 of 11 shooting.

Justin Castro scored 18 points to go with seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists.

Lozier scored seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Castro and Tenzing Chime knocked down back-to-back threes for a 22-14 Golden Ram lead but DCTC followed up with two threes of their own to pull back within two.

Romello Wilson hit a jumper for a 26-22 lead before DCTC went on a 8-0 run to take a 30-26 lead.

Anoka-Ramsey trailed 41-34 at halftime and stayed within striking distance for most of the second half.

Lozier scored to make it a 59-51 deficit but a three-point play from the Blue Knights sparked an 11-4 run to build a 15 point lead.

Two Dunlap free throws made it a seven point game with 2:57 to go but that's as close as the Golden Rams would get in the loss.

Anoka-Ramsey is 7-4 overall and will have a rematch with DCTC on January 4th in Inver Grove Heights.
