Men's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight Game with Weekend Sweep

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team completed the four game sweep against the MCAC Northern Division with wins over Mesabi Range and Vermilion last weekend.

The Golden Rams pulled away in the second half to beat Mesabi 78-65 on Friday night.

Anoka-Ramsey knocked down nine threes to just four for the Norsemen.

The Golden Rams finished the game shooting 47.3 percent overall while holding Mesabi to just 35.8 percent including 4 of 22 from the three-point line.

Steven Colon scored 27 points making 10 of 15 shots overall and 3 of 7 from three.

Justin Castro scored 17 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Nashiem Lozier chipped in 12 points while pulling in eight rebounds.

Beau Nelson scored ten points making 3 of 4 shots and 2 of 3 threes.

 

On Saturday the Golden Rams once again pulled away in the second half for a 87-73 win over Vermilion, outscoring the Ironmen 42-34 in the second half.

The Golden Rams were hot from the outside making a season-high 17 threes in 38 attempts (44.7 percent) and 55.7 percent of their shots overall.

Anoka-Ramsey also forced 19 turnovers while committing just nine themselves.

Castro led all scorers with 24 points on 10 of 13 shooting while also dishing out six assists.

Tenzing Chime scored a career-high 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting and 3 of 5 from three.

Lozier also chipped in 15 points.

Romello Wilson scored 11 points in his first career start making all three three-point attempts.

Colon finished with ten points and five rebounds.

 

The Golden Rams improve to 6-3 overall with their fourth straight win and will host Bismarck State at 7:00pm Friday, and Dakota County Tech at 2:00pm Saturday.
