Golden Rams Lose on Buzzer Beater

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team dropped a 71-70 decision to Bryant and Stratton thanks to a buzzer beating three-pointer from the Bobcats.

The Golden Rams led 70-68 with ten seconds remaining when the Bobcats went the length of the floor, and nearly turned the ball over before knocking down a tough off-balance three.

Bryant and Stratton led 34-32 at halftime largely due to making 8 of 20 shots beyond the arc compared to just four threes from the Golden Rams.

The Bobcats struck first to begin the second half to lead 36-32, but Anoka-Ramsey would go on a 16-2 run over the next seven minutes to lead 48-38.

A three-pointer from Steven Colon extended the lead to 59-44 with ten minutes left before Bryant and Stratton began to chip away.

Consecutive threes from the Bobcats trimmed a 12 point deficit down to six with with seven minutes to go and two free throws cut the Golden Ram lead to just three, 63-60 with four minutes left.

A DeAndre Jones jumper and a free throw from Colon gave the Golden Rams a six point cushion with two minutes to play.

Two Bobcat free throws pulled Bryant and Stratton within four, but a Golden Ram turnover led to a three-point play from the Bobcats and Anoka-Ramsey was ahead just one with 38 seconds to play.

Another Colon free throw extended the lead back to two points, 67-65 and after a Bobcat turnover Justin Castro made two free throws for a 69-65 lead with 21 seconds to play.

But another three from the Bobcats with 13 seconds left made it a one point game.  The Golden Rams inbounded the ball and were fouled, but only converted one of two free throws to setup the final sequence.

The Golden Rams out-shot the Bobcats 44.8 percent to 39 percent but Bryant and Stratton made 13 threes to just eight for the Golden Rams, and converted all 12 free throws attempts compared to Anoka-Ramsey's 10 of 17 performance from the stripe.

Colon scored 17 points on 6 of 11 shooting.

Castro finished with 12 points.
