Golden Rams Fall to DCTC

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team dropped a 78-65 contest to Dakota County Tech on Saturday afternoon in a game held at the Target Center.

The Golden Rams struggled offensively out of the gate falling behind 16-4 five minutes into the game.

A 3-pointer from Steven Colon cut the deficit down to nine but the Blue Knights went on a 6-0 spurt to increase the lead to 15 points.

Anoka-Ramsey wasn't able to trim into the deficit as it grew to as many as 25 points with four minutes left.

Murshid Mudricat Zuberi scored to spark a 8-0 run, along with two Jalen Dunlap 3's, to end the half with Anoka-Ramsey behind 48-31.

The run continued in the second half with another Colon three-pointer, and Justin Castro field goal, and a DeAndre Jones layup and suddenly the deficit was only 11.

But two quick threes by DCTC extended the lead back to 17 points.

The Golden Rams eventually pulled back within ten with 11:25 to play but DCTC responded again with six straight points and Anoka-Ramsey wouldn't get closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Colon led Anoka-Ramsey with a career-high 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting and 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Beau Nelson and Dunlap each chipped in nine points.

The Golden Rams fall to 2-1 overall.

Anoka-Ramsey will host Bryant and Stratton (WI) on Saturday, November 24 at 1:00pm.
