The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team was in control throughout the afternoon, but used a late run to put the game away in a 84-63 win over Western Tech on Saturday afternoon.
With the Golden Rams ahead 15-12, a three from DeAndre Jones jump started a 7-0 spurt to increase the lead to ten.
After a Cavalier basket Jackson Odegard connected from long range to go up 25-14, then Western Tech countered with another two before a three from Justin Castro and a layup by Elijah Linear put the Golden Rams up 30-16 with 7:48 left in the first half.
Anoka-Ramsey maintained the 14 point edge throughout the half and led 43-29 at the break.
Western Tech hung around in the second half with the Golden Ram lead hovering around ten for much of the last period.
With 8:07 to go Western cut the deficit to just eight, 63-55, but a Linear layup and a Kevin Schramm bucket increased the lead back to 12.
Western Tech cut it to ten, 67-57 before five straight threes, three from Odegard and two from Malik El-Amin during a 15-4 run put the game away.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 47.1 percent overall, and knocked down 14 of 38 (36.8 percent) from long range.
The Golden Rams held a 41-29 edge in rebounds and recorded 27 assists on their 32 made field goals.
James Lloyd led the scoring with 16 points making all six of Anoka-Ramsey's free throws.
Odegard finished with 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting including 4 of 8 from three.
Schramm finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four blocked shots.
El-Amin scored 11 and Chris Morgan hauled in ten rebounds.
The Golden Rams improve to 13-8 overall, 7-1 in the MCAC. Next up is another home tilt vs Riverland on Wednesday, February 7th at 5:30pm.
