The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team fell to Northland Community and Technical College 73-55 on Saturday afternoon after a late scoring drought of just eight points in the final 12 minutes of the game.

The Golden Rams trailed 48-47 after a Jackson Odegard jumper with 12:19 left in the second half, but Northland would go on an extended 17-2 run over the next nine minutes to pull away.

James Lloyd scored seven straight Golden Ram points to put Anoka-Ramsey ahead 18-11 with 11 minutes left in the first half before Northland went on a 23-7 run to go up 34-25 with three minutes to play before halftime.

Malik El-Amin scored five points and Chris Morgan hit a late three to pull within 39-33 at halftime.

Northland extended their lead to 46-35 just two and half minutes into the second half, but an 8-0 Golden Ram run pulled Anoka-Ramsey within 46-43.  From there the Pioneers clamped down on the defensive end and the Golden Rams ran out of gas playing with seven players for the second consecutive game.

Northland shot 51.8 percent (29 of 56) and knocked down 9 of 21 three-point attempts while outrebounding Anoka-Ramsey 33-21.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 19 of 54 (35.2 percent) and made just 8 of 26 threes (30.8 percent) after coming into the game shooting over 41 percent from three for the season.

Kevin Schramm scored 17 points with Morgan chipping in ten.

The loss drops Anoka-Ramsey to 3-4 overall with their next two games coming on the road at Rainy River and Hibbing next weekend.
