The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team split their opening two games of the season, falling to Lake Region State 82-71 before defeating the Jamestown JV 95-69.

In their opening game vs. Lake Region the Golden Rams trailed 14-12 before Lake Region went on a 10-0 run to pull ahead 24-12 with 11 minutes left in the first half.

A James Lloyd jumper followed by two Chris Morgan free throws pulled Anoka-Ramsey to within eight points.

Trailing 42-29 with 3:12 to play in the half, the Golden Rams allowed Lake Region to finish the half on a 8-2 run to take a 50-31 lead at halftime.

Anoka-Ramsey was behind by as many as 23 points in the second half but they began to chip away at the deficit and eventually pulled within 65-57 with 6:47 to play.

Lake Region held off the rally though and Anoka-Ramsey could get no closer than eight the rest of the way.

Anoka-Ramsey struggled from two-point range shooting just 33 percent overall, but finished 10-25 (40 percent) from the three-point line.

Kevin Schramm finished with a career-high 32 points on 9 of 15 shooting including 5 of 7 from the three-point line and making 9 of 11 free throws.

Morgan finished with 12 points, and Lloyd chipped in ten.

Ramose Riddley pulled in 11 rebounds including seven on the offensive end.

With a short turnaround Anoka-Ramsey showed some resilience in jumping ahead 24-12 on the Jamestown JV the next day.

Leading 26-16, Jackson Odegard connected on a three-point shot followed by a three from Chris Morgan, and another three from Justin Castro to go up 35-16 with 8:15 left in the first half.

A layup from Ramose Riddley extended the lead to 24 points and a layup from DeAndre Jones put Anoka-Ramsey up 55-26 before taking a 57-37 lead into the break.

Two free throws from Schramm extended the lead to 27 points with 17:14 to play and the Jimmies would get no closer than 22 points the rest of the way.

Anoka-Ramsey finished the day shooting 56.1 percent overall and 10 of 24 (41.7 percent) from the three-point line.

The Golden Rams had 29 assists to just 13 turnovers while also out-rebounding the Jimmies by a 40-28 margin.

Riddley finished with a career-high 22 points on 10 of 11 FGs and 2 for 2 from the charity stripe.

Morgan finished with 20 points, and Lloyd scored 17 making 3 of 6 three-point attempts.

Castro pulled in ten rebounds to lead the effort on the glass, with Malik El-Amin dishing out seven assists.

The Golden Rams will host Madison College at 7:00pm November 10, and Gogebic at 2:00pm November 11.
