Baseball Drops Two, Each by One Run, to CLC

The Anoka-Ramsey baseball team came close to two victories on Sunday afternoon, falling by one run in each game to Central Lakes at Wintercrest Park.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Golden Rams rallied from a 8-3 deficit entering the bottom of the 7th, putting up four runs before dropping a 8-7 contest.

In the decisive inning, Mikey McBryar connected on a deep two-run home run to left field.

Jacob Contreras had two hits and an RBI.  Brett Sullivan struck out four batters in five innings of work, with Tanner Flahaven pitching two innings allowing just one hit.

The second game saw Anoka-Ramsey jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first, and led 10-6 after five innings.

But the Raiders would add two in the top half of the sixth, then five more in the top of the seventh for a 13-10 lead.

Once again the Golden Rams battled back by scoring two in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't muster the final runs.

Rice Whitaker drove in two runs, and scored three including a home run in the fourth.

Contreras again went 2-4 from the plate, and struck out seven CLC batters while on the mound.

Anoka-Ramsey drops to 3-17 overall.
