Game One
Anoka-Ramsey stayed in it until the end, but it was Riverland Community College that pulled away late in a 5-4 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at four with Riverland batting in the bottom of the sixth when Logan Severson's wild pitch allowed the go ahead run to score.
The Golden Rams fired up the offense in the first inning, when Cole Benson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. After Anoka-Ramsey scored one run in the top of the second, Riverland answered with one of their own. The Golden Rams scored when AJ Overton was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Riverland then answered when Reinaldo Espada singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Riverland tied things up at four. Javier Ramos drove in one when he singled.
Espada was the winning pitcher for Riverland. He allowed five hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Severson took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking zero.
Dylan Conrad started the game for Anoka-Ramsey Community College. He lasted five and a third innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out three. Alex Jeranek started the game for Riverland Community College. He surrendered three runs on two hits over one-third of an inning, walking one.
Anoka-Ramsey racked up seven hits on the day. Benson and Jared Kent all managed multiple hits for the Golden Rams. Anoka-Ramsey was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
Game Two
Anoka-Ramsey fell to Riverland 4-3 on Sunday on the final play of the game. Riverland was down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Yadiel Ortiz singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, thus walking off the Golden Rams.
Gavin Roosen earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Riverland. He allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 11. Colin Bernard took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey. He allowed one hit and zero runs walking zero. Kyle Nelson started the game for the Golden Rams. He surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out two and walking one.
Jared Crawford, AJ Overton, Jared Kent, Jake Hansen, Cole Benson, and Brandon Watkins each managed one hit to lead Anoka-Ramsey.
