Golden Rams and Cavaliers Split Series

Game 1

 

Anoka-Ramsey fought back after falling down by five runs in the fifth inning.  The comeback fell just short though, in a 5-3 defeat to Western Technical College on Sunday.  Anoka-Ramsey scored three runs in the failed comeback on a sacrifice fly by Patrick Taylor and a error.

The Golden Rams fell behind early in the loss.  Western Tech scored on a sacrifice fly by Lucas Gosewehr and a single by Zack Brandenburg in the first inning.

Anoka-Ramsey tallied three runs in the sixth inning.  The offensive onslaught came from a sac fly by Taylor and an error on a ball put in play by Jared Crawford. 

Western Tech scored three runs in the fifth inning.  The offensive firepower was led by Jakob Masterson and Will Koch, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Aaron Morrow was credited with the victory for Western Technical College.  He went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out two. Hayden Smith threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Smith recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Western Tech.

Drew Jones took the loss for the Golden Rams. He lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out five and walking one.

Crawford led Anoka-Ramsey Community College with two hits in four at bats.

 

Game 2

 

Anoka-Ramsey Community College sailed to an easy victory over Western Technical College 10-1 on Sunday.

The Golden Rams got on the board in the first inning, when they scored one run on a Cole Benson single.

Anoka-Ramsey tallied four runs in the fifth inning.  The Golden Rams big bats were led by Dakota Rockstad, Jake Hansen, and Benson, all driving in runs in the frame.

Jake Hansen took the win for the Golden Rams. He went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out ten and walking one.

Jesus Ontiveros took the loss for Western Technical College. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on 11 hits.

Anoka-Ramsey racked up 13 hits in the game.  Brydon Hegarty, Jared Crawford, Brett Vetterkind, and Ben Johnson each collected multiple hits for the Golden Rams.  Hegarty led Anoka-Ramsey with three hits in four at bats.
