M|State Fergus Falls Gets Better of Golden Rams

Game 1

 

The Golden Rams struggled out of the gates and continued to all day long.  Anoka-Ramsey fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 14-5 loss to Minnesota State Community & Technical College on Thursday.  Minnesota State scored on a walk by Jake Dykhoff in the first inning, a single by Matt Pietsch in the second inning, a double by Ryan Schmitz in the second inning, and a home run by Dykhoff in the second inning.

The Golden Rams struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Minnesota State, giving up 14 runs.

Minnesota State scored on a walk by Jake Dykhoff in the first inning.  Anoka-Ramsey evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Jake Hansen doubled home their first run.  Minnesota State pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning, as Matt Pietsch singled, Ryan Schmitz doubled, and Dykhoff send a home run blast over the left field fence.

Mitch Porter got the win for Minnesota State.  He lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out four.

Colin Bernard took the loss for the Golden Rams.  He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Minnesota State mashed two home runs on the day, with Dykhoff's in the second inning and Schmitz adding one in sixth inning.

Anoka-Ramsey racked up nine hits on the day.  Jared Crawford and Jake Hansen each collected multiple hits for the Golden Rams.

 

Game 2

 

Anoka-Ramsey  watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-4 loss to Minnesota State on Thursday.

Minnesota State scored on a walk by Ryan Schmitz, a grand slam by Austin Oetter, and an error in the first inning.

The Golden Rams struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Minnesota State, giving up 14 runs.

Minnesota State fired up the offense in the first inning, when Schmitz drew a walk, scoring one run.

Anoka-Ramsey tallied three runs in the third inning. T he big inning was thanks to a sac fly by AJ Overton and a home run by Brandon Watkins.

Minnesota State scored eight runs in the fifth inning.  Their batters contributing to the big inning included Will Magnusson, Eric Salvesen, Rory Drewes, Matt Pietsch, and Jake Dykhoff, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Austin Stanislawski was credited with the victory for Minnesota State. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Dylan Conrad took the loss for Anoka-Ramsey.  He went one inning, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out two.

Nick Endersby started the game for Minnesota State Community & Technical College. He lasted three innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out one.

Watkins, Overton, Jake Hansen, Patrick Taylor, and Mason Gallagher each managed one hit to lead the Golden Rams.
